Catherine K. Brown has appeared in musical theater and opera productions throughout the Philadelphia region. Her musical theater roles include Mrs. Segstrom in A Little Night Music (Dramateurs at the Barn), Sister Margaretta in The Sound of Music (Forge Theatre), and Snow White in Into the Woods (Barley Sheaf Players), among others. Her opera roles include Hanna in Oscar Straus’s A Waltz Dream (Concert Operetta Theater), the Third Boy in Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Academy of Vocal Arts), and a bridesmaid in Trial by Jury (Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Chester County). Ensemble work includes Bizet’s Carmen (Rowan University Opera) and Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience (Savoy Company).
An actor, she has performed with the Chester County Pops Orchestra. Since 2011, she has worked as a television background actor in New York City (ABC's Pan Am and NBC's 30 Rock) and Philadelphia (NBC's Do No Harm).
Catherine holds a B.A. in music and German from St. Olaf College. She is a private voice teacher in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and writes about vocal training on her blog. Before opening her voice studio in 2009, Catherine worked in public relations for seven years, holding positions at the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Academy of Vocal Arts, and Inglis Foundation.
